Action World Paihia is located in the Waiora Valley surrounded by beautiful natural bush. It feels like it's in the country but is actually only 300m from the beach in Paihia! If you bring the kids for a day of awesone activities but you just feel like relaxing - strip down to your bathers and relax on the beautiful lawn by the duck pond reading a book. You'll think you are at a country retreat!
And if you forgot to bring drinks and food - Countdown Supermarket is just 150m (2 min walk) from the park.
Most of the activities in the park are patented so the only place you can experience them is in one of the Action World parks around New Zealand. They are not your average activities - these are serious apparatus that will challenge the most athletic individuals.
Action World is not just a bunch of bouncy castles. The skill levels cater to all ages from the mini-activities for kids 5-and-under to the flying trapeze where even professional gymnasts will not master all we can teach them. Remember that Freddy and Carol Osler are former World Champions on the flying trapeze!
The kids that enjoy the park the most seem to be aged between 6-12 but we have had some 5-year-olds catch the second bar on the flying trapeze (many adults fail at this) and we have also had a sprightly gentleman of 82 years catch it as well!
But besides the trapeze there are many activities that are challenging to the point where people of all ages cannot complete the task or are too nervous to attempt it in the first place. We are Action World not Woosie World!
We have two miniature ponies called Oscar and Patches, two goats called Billy and Bobby and - depending on the season - up to 40-plus ducks in the duck pond.
During school holidays we have pony rides on Oscar - please call to inquire about times. We used to have the goats walk free in the park but they are so tame that they steal food from any basket even if it is sitting on the table next to you and most people are not strong enough to stop them so now we put them behind a fence when people are in the park. But that does not stop you from feeding them at any time. They love most foods and will eat out of your hand.
The ducks love bread and you can feed them as much as you want. During spring time we normally have quite a few ducklings walking around and we will happily give you some duckling food to feed them.
To qualify for a group discount you must be 20 people or more. Discounts vary depending on many circumstances - please email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Carol on 021 890 566.
A large number of groups visit our park every year and we do our very best to make them feel at home. If you call beforehand we will reserve a table or tables for you under the tent right next to the BBQ area. Remember, you can bring as much food and drink into the park as you want. We can arrange competitions between different teams in the group and we can arrange for an intensive training session on the flying trapeze where it is easily possible for a talented group of individuals to learn the same tricks on the trapeze as you see in a circus. And there are lots of possibilities besides...
If you want to use the park as a private function - just contact us. It is obviously cheaper outside of school holidays and prices vary depending on what exactly you want to do in the park. Private functions may include alcohol.
Whatever it is you want - we promise you it will be a lot of fun!
The trapeze is the same dimensions as used in circuses and you can do exactly the same tricks as on the real deal. Of course, if you just want swing on the first bar - that is already hugely exciting. But if you want to catch the second bar - for most people that is more frightening than a bungy jump! For that reason only about 15% of people who go up on the trapeze manage to get across. Oh, a lot of people learn the manoeuvre that enables you to get across - but many just cannot work up that last bit of courage to actually let go of the first bar, this being a somewhat important requirement in getting to the second bar.
That second bar is located at exactly the same point that a live catcher would be in a real flying trapeze act so if you did spend some time learning tricks with us, who knows - maybe you can join a circus...
